Greensides Results 11/05/2008
The results of The Greensides London Open which was held on Sunday 11th May 2008. Thanks to Dave Stephens and Peter Haste for setting up the venue this month as once again our normal person had other commitments. After nearly a year running this competition this month we had a poor turnout, due to the majority of my regular players away at other major tournaments, however we had 24 players and they all still had a great day, we changed the format this month to best of 3 best of 3 sets and it worked out really well, however I am sure that we could not have done this if we had our normal number of entrants. Something to think about for the future but only if we start a lot earlier say about 4pm. A special mention to Charlie Little who once again turned up to play in this senior event and he lost 2 sets 1 and only because he missed his double to win the match, unlucky Charlie hope to see you again, Another 4 new faces in the semi finals Luke Langley beat Grant Taylor 3 sets to nil and Clive Barden beat Richie Buckell 3 sets to 1. In the Final Luke Langley beat Clive Barden 3 sets to 1 in what was a superb final both Luke and Clive played excellent all day long.
