Greensides results 16/03/2008
The results for The Greensides London Open which was held on Sunday 16th March, thanks once again to everyone that turned up and we did start a little later 6pm, due to a few players getting held up in traffic (please leave a little earlier ) however it did not stop everyone from once again enjoying such a great day, we had 54 players turn up (46 men 2 under 11s and 6 Ladies), once again some of my regular players were away elsewhere away on holiday and working however we did have a great day. Most of you who come to the knockouts every month will have noticed this month that we had 2 youngsters who wanted to play, so we had Brett Dawson (London) and Charlie Little (Kent Youth) these young lads are our future in the sport of darts, they are both 10 years old and what can I say they both played extremely well and this being their first senior competition, Brett lost first round to another youth player from Surrey Micheal Shefford. Charlie won his first game against Terry Lyons and lost 2nd Round to Mark Harris, what a great day for these two young lads and I was pleased that I was able to give them the opportunity to play as that is how important it was for them WELL DONE BOYS. Once again the final 4 in the semis were new faces and I am sure that is what is good about this competition, different faces every month. Anyway the semi finalist results were Clive Barden (Kent) lost to Ron Green (Hertfordshire) Ian McNeil (London) lost to Chris(Chaos) Copeland (London) The final was won by Ron who beat Chris 5-2, furthest lady Tricia Wright ( Kent ) after a playoff between the 3 ladies who all lost in the second round. Winner Received £190 Runner/Up £80 Semi-finalist x 2 each received £30 and furthest lady received £30. Many thanks once again to Greensides also the Bar staff Les and Julie for all their hard work ( the food was excellent) and making everyone feel really welcome.
