Greensides Results 20/04/2008
The results for The Greensides London Open which was held on Sunday 20th April 2008. Thanks to those of you that set up the venue this month as our normal person was unavailable due to other commitments. We actually did start near enough on time thank goodness. However for those of you that did arrive late (please leave a little earlier) however it did not stop everyone from once again enjoying such a great day, we had 47 players turn up (44 men and 3 ladies), once again some of my regular players were away elsewhere. however we did have a great day. It was also very nice to see a few more new faces from other counties turn up and play in this knockout and thanks to those that did have games elsewhere and still managed to turn up for my knockout it is really appreciated to see that you still support this knockout. There was one young lady who turned up to play this month and that was Laura Hitchens from Surrey, this young lady has plenty of talent and will be one to look out for the future. Once again the final 4 in the semis were new faces and I am sure that is what is good about this competition, different faces every month. Anyway the semi finalist results were John Jukes from Oxfordshire lost to Roy Peacock from Middlesex, the other semi was Ryan Hitchens from Surrey lost to Nick Buckingham from Kent. The final was won by Roy Peacock who beat Nick 5-2. Furthest lady Tricia Wright (Kent) after a playoff between the 3 ladies. Winner Received £190 Runner/Up £80 Semi-finalist x 2 each received £30 and furthest lady received £30. Many thanks once again to Greensides also the Bar staff Les and Julie for all their hard work Also to Oz and the rest of the committee for their support (the food was excellent) and making everyone feel really welcome. Finally thanks once again to you all for making this tournament one of the best in South London at present Maybe next month we can get back to using the stage etc for the semis and the final.
